  OMG December link-up is open!


I was too late for the November goal!
My quilt was finished with 10 days to spare, but my post was one day too late and I could not link it anymore.

I am almost doing the same thing for December...

So let me quickly expose my goal before it is too late :

My goal is to use the remaining fabric from "Maastricht flying kites" to make two pillows as Christmas gift to go with it.

My intention is to try other piecing techniques (until now, I pieced only HST and snowball blocks!) in small samples AND have a surprise gift for my daughter who has to wait over 2 months for her quilt to be finished.

J'étais trop tard pour le goal de Novembre!
Mon patchwork était fini avec 10 jours d'avance mais j'ai écrit mon article trop tard pour le lier.
J'ai failli refaire la même chose avec le goal de Novembre...

Sans plus attendre, voici mon goal de Novembre :
Il s'agit de faire 2 coussins avec les restes de tissus des "cerf volants de Maastricht" comme cadeaux de noël pour ma fille.

 Je vais utiliser d'autre techniques de pièçage en profitant du fait qu'il s'agit de projets plus petits (jusque là, je n'ai cousu que des HST et des "snow balls" !). Et ma fille qui a attendu son patchwork plus de deux mois mérite bien une surprise pour noël.

Octopus, finally finished!

Texte en français en bas de la page I thought I would never see the end of this quilt. Not because I hated doing it, but because I like it too much. I delayed every step of the process, being scared of ruining it. I read somewhere that, traditionally a quilter has to introduce a mistake in every quilt because only god is perfect... Well, I don't need to make an intentional mistake, my quilt is full of errors, misaligned seams etc. I am still very proud of it. My largest quilt so far and designed myself. I hope my nephew will like it read the full story here.  I quilted the octopus' tentacles, free motion with pebbles. For the background (the sea) I made wavy lines, using my walking foot. I quilted the piano key borders with straight lines. For the back, I was ready to settle on anything remotely nautical, but the perfect fabric found me. Finished! Les Cerf volants de Maastricht

Texte en français en bas de la page   Finally, I finished the quilt for my daughter! It took quite some time to finish the quilting, and in the end, I just wanted it done. I could not wait to start working on something new. This quilt, which I already discussed  here , uses the Haphazard pattern offered by Liz from Savor every stitch. In keeping the haphazard of the pattern, I decided to quilt each triangle separately with a variety of designs.. I had bought a ruler sampler set from Westalee. I used some of them for this quilt. But I mainly used the straight ruler, and designs I learned in Angela Waters' Craftsy class "quilting with rulers"   When I started, I was afraid that the various designs would be too much for the eyes. Also, I don't think a single triangle is quilted perfectly. But I am very proud of the result. For the back, I ordered a wide backing from kaffe fasset collective.
