I am Marie, mother to 3 teenagers and new to blogging and quilting.

I have started to quilt a few months ago. I have quickly been amazed by the blogger community.
I don't have anybody who quilt around me. But I found out that the internet is full of friendly quiters who share their passions, their tips and inspiration. And I wanted to participate and show my work.

PS why Octopus Patchwork, you may ask? Well this is the name of the quilt I am working on currently - my most ambitious project so far, designed by myself. More to come about it!

Je m'apelle Marie, je suis la mère de 3 adolescents et je suis débutante en blog et en patchwork.

 J'ai commencé le patchwork il y a quelques mois. J'ai rapidement été conquise par le communauté des bloggeuses. Je ne connais personne qui fasse de patchwork, mais j'ai découvert que l'internet regorge de quilteuses prêtes à partager leur passion, leurs trucs et astuces et leur inspiration. J'ai voulu y participer et partager mon travail.
J'espère qu'on se reverra!

PS Si vous vous demandez pourquoi "Octopus patchwork"... non, je n'ai pas huit bras!
C'est le nom de mon projet le plus ambitieux. J'y travaille pour l'offrir à mon neveu. Plus d'info à venir!

I had wanted to try since some time, but I really needed to start for this baby. So I made a few small projects (pillows) and then a baby blanket. Octopus, finally finished!

Texte en français en bas de la page I thought I would never see the end of this quilt. Not because I hated doing it, but because I like it too much. I delayed every step of the process, being scared of ruining it. I read somewhere that, traditionally a quilter has to introduce a mistake in every quilt because only god is perfect... Well, I don't need to make an intentional mistake, my quilt is full of errors, misaligned seams etc. I am still very proud of it. My largest quilt so far and designed myself. I hope my nephew will like it read the full story here.  I quilted the octopus' tentacles, free motion with pebbles. For the background (the sea) I made wavy lines, using my walking foot. I quilted the piano key borders with straight lines. For the back, I was ready to settle on anything remotely nautical, but the perfect fabric found me. Finished! Les Cerf volants de Maastricht

Texte en français en bas de la page   Finally, I finished the quilt for my daughter! It took quite some time to finish the quilting, and in the end, I just wanted it done. I could not wait to start working on something new. This quilt, which I already discussed  here , uses the Haphazard pattern offered by Liz from Savor every stitch. In keeping the haphazard of the pattern, I decided to quilt each triangle separately with a variety of designs.. I had bought a ruler sampler set from Westalee. I used some of them for this quilt. But I mainly used the straight ruler, and designs I learned in Angela Waters' Craftsy class "quilting with rulers"   When I started, I was afraid that the various designs would be too much for the eyes. Also, I don't think a single triangle is quilted perfectly. But I am very proud of the result. For the back, I ordered a wide backing from kaffe fasset collective. I found it beautiful and very smooth, but quite fragile. On
