January OMG link-up is open!

Last year I did not often choose a monthly goal. Let's see if I can get better this year.
My goal for January is to make 18 more Crazy log cabin blocks for y golden squirrel.

With this, I will have 9 rows of 6 blocks. I believe it will be finished with 10 rows.

L'année dernière, je ne me suis pas souvent choisi de but mensuel. Voyons si je peux faire mieux cette année.
Mon but pour le mois de janvier est de faire 18 blocs supplémentaires pour mon "écureuil". Cela fera 9 rangées de 6 blocs et je pense que le patchwork fini aura 10 rangées.

Octopus, finally finished!

Texte en français en bas de la page I thought I would never see the end of this quilt. Not because I hated doing it, but because I like it too much. I delayed every step of the process, being scared of ruining it. I read somewhere that, traditionally a quilter has to introduce a mistake in every quilt because only god is perfect... Well, I don't need to make an intentional mistake, my quilt is full of errors, misaligned seams etc. I am still very proud of it. My largest quilt so far and designed myself. I hope my nephew will like it read the full story here.  I quilted the octopus' tentacles, free motion with pebbles. For the background (the sea) I made wavy lines, using my walking foot. I quilted the piano key borders with straight lines. For the back, I was ready to settle on anything remotely nautical, but the perfect fabric found me. Finished! Les Cerf volants de Maastricht

Texte en français en bas de la page   Finally, I finished the quilt for my daughter! It took quite some time to finish the quilting, and in the end, I just wanted it done. I could not wait to start working on something new. This quilt, which I already discussed  here , uses the Haphazard pattern offered by Liz from Savor every stitch. In keeping the haphazard of the pattern, I decided to quilt each triangle separately with a variety of designs.. I had bought a ruler sampler set from Westalee. I used some of them for this quilt. But I mainly used the straight ruler, and designs I learned in Angela Waters' Craftsy class "quilting with rulers"   When I started, I was afraid that the various designs would be too much for the eyes. Also, I don't think a single triangle is quilted perfectly. But I am very proud of the result. For the back, I ordered a wide backing from kaffe fasset collective.
