WIP - Harry Potter QALs

Last week, I started blogging about my WIP projetcs, here is my second one.

In january, both Lorna at sew fresh quilts and Kelly at Seriously... I think it needs stiches have proposed Harry Potter themed QALs.

I selected my favourite bloks from both QALs.
The blocks don't have the same same size, but I will figure it out with shashing.




I still have to choose one block to complete the quilt.

La semaine dernière j'ai commencé à blogger à propos de mes projets entammés. Voici le second.

En janvier, Lorna à sew fresh quilts et Kelly à Seriously... I think it needs stiches ont proposé des quilts along sur le theme de Harry Potter.

J'ai choisi mes blocs favoris sur les deux QALs. Ils n'ont pas tout à fait la même taille, mais je vais m'arranger avec les bordures.



Je dois encore choisir un bloc pour terminer le patchwork.

    How clever of you to combine the two QALs! My daughter would love this, although I have no plans to add Harry Potter to my list of to-dos. Thanks for linking to Colour & Inspiration Tuesday. :)

    I’m with Dione on the my daughter would love this and I even have some HO fabric but don’t tell her! Have fun!

I had wanted to try since some time, but I really needed to start for this baby. So I made a few small projects (pillows) and then a baby blanket. Octopus, finally finished!

Texte en français en bas de la page I thought I would never see the end of this quilt. Not because I hated doing it, but because I like it too much. I delayed every step of the process, being scared of ruining it. I read somewhere that, traditionally a quilter has to introduce a mistake in every quilt because only god is perfect... Well, I don't need to make an intentional mistake, my quilt is full of errors, misaligned seams etc. I am still very proud of it. My largest quilt so far and designed myself. I hope my nephew will like it read the full story here.  I quilted the octopus' tentacles, free motion with pebbles. For the background (the sea) I made wavy lines, using my walking foot. I quilted the piano key borders with straight lines. For the back, I was ready to settle on anything remotely nautical, but the perfect fabric found me. Finished! Les Cerf volants de Maastricht

Texte en français en bas de la page   Finally, I finished the quilt for my daughter! It took quite some time to finish the quilting, and in the end, I just wanted it done. I could not wait to start working on something new. This quilt, which I already discussed  here , uses the Haphazard pattern offered by Liz from Savor every stitch. In keeping the haphazard of the pattern, I decided to quilt each triangle separately with a variety of designs.. I had bought a ruler sampler set from Westalee. I used some of them for this quilt. But I mainly used the straight ruler, and designs I learned in Angela Waters' Craftsy class "quilting with rulers"   When I started, I was afraid that the various designs would be too much for the eyes. Also, I don't think a single triangle is quilted perfectly. But I am very proud of the result. For the back, I ordered a wide backing from kaffe fasset collective. I found it beautiful and very smooth, but quite fragile. On
